This is not a compliant just a question, had my 2007 ST V8 for 2 months now and i get on average 16.8 mpg or 14L/100km. I've put new spark plugs( motor craft) air filter and fuel filter, cleaned MAF sensor, is this average or is there some way to improve mpg.

For the 07 st with the v8, the mpg is 14 city, 20 highway. So the average is 17 mpg. The only way i know to improve it is to keep your foot out of it :) Thats really not bad for a midsize by comparison, unless you buy a new truck with a turbo 4 cylinder, and those are only made that way because the government required it "to help the enviroment." My 02 st with the v6 gets an average of 18, not much better, and with considerably less power and torque.

It's good thing this isn't a complaint. I have an 08 limited with a V 8. 73,000 miles and a new engine with 2,000 miles on it now,( don't ask) and the mileage I get around town is in the 11' s and has never been better than that, even with the old engine. On the highway, 16 to 18. So I'll trade you if you want.

Biggest MPG killer with most gas vehicles is accelerating from dead stops. Sport Tracs are 4100+ pound bricks that benefit greatly from a lighter gas pedal when taking off. Also remember the MPG loss when using winter blended fuel.

Thanks for the feed back, like i said it was just a question, I'm ok with the mpg but were always looking for ways to improve

My 2008 Adrenalin Sport Trac V-8 got 19.6 on the highway last Sunday at 65 mph. When I got into town, it went to 16.6 mpg.

Normally, it averages about 15.5 FWIW

@"Risky Bizness"
19.6 MPG highway seems a bit high but reasonable for a 4.6L V8.
16.6 MPG city almost sounds delusional and MUCH higher than the factory estimate.

HOW are you calculating MPG? Are you relying on the dash gauges or using the "top off" method at the fuel pump?

BTW, how are your Michelin Defender LTX/MS tires doing? After several years albeit low miles mine are incredibly smooth riding and showing minimal wear. I always keep them inflated at 34-35 PSI.

I calculate my mileage the old way. Pen and paper. I'm not saying that the truck does it every time, but it did do it the other day.

Before I bought it, the previous owner had changed plugs etc. (Not saying that THAT is the miracle cure for better mileage, but didn't hurt the mileage any).

The intown driving I'm talking about is through an area where I didn't have a lot of stop lights etc. AND, I babied it at stop lights, because I was shooting for good gas mileage. In all honesty, as I've gotten older, I pamper my trucks when I drive them. No jack rabbit starts etc. Hell, I pretty much drive the exact speed limit !!! LOL

My tires are phenominal !!!!! Ride is great, wear is great. I'm a odd duck I guess, but when the oil is changed on all of our vehicles, the tires are rotated !!

We have the Michelin's on all of our trucks except my wifes 2017 King Ranch. It has a set of GoodYears on it. They're Wranglers. NOT sure exactly which ones. BUT, they've been OK. However my wifes 2017 KR just turned 20K on the meter. The truck is a garage queen !!!!! If I do trade truck, part ot the trade deal will be, that the Michelin's on my truck will be put on the 2017, and the GoodYears to be put on the traded truck. I just put the Michelin's on my truck, and they have minimal miles on them.

We're considering trading my 2015 KR off sometime after the first of the year for a new KR. I did see in all of the pics on AutoTrader that ALL of the new KR trucks have Pirelli tires on them. THOSE will come off at the time of purchase. I hate Pirelli's !!!

There will be a set of the Defenders on it !!!
