2010 Smart Junction Box

Having issues with what has been termed smart junction box and GEM module. Trouble shooting has led me back to what I was originally told was the Generic Electornic Module. After some discussion I was told in 2010 GEM is the smart junction module. clarification would be great. Can this smart junction box be RE-Programmed assuming no corrosion or mostuire issues exsist--Recent dealer work on tranny-disconnected battery and I think this Module or box lost its mind..or do I have to replace?? The SJB is the new GEM and it is reprogrammable. What is going on with it?
