Things I learned about acetone today:

1. It gets road tar off of the Trac a lot better and faster than tar remover.

2. It will wipe the color right off of the factory 4x4 decals on the bedside of a Gen 2 Trac. I will remove the passenger side decal tomorrow so it matches.

3. It will basically recondition a bug deflector by melting the surface layer of plastic. If you wipe smoothly it looks pretty good.

4. It does not take wax off the fender flares of a Gen 2 Trac. Nothing takes wax off the fender flares of a Gen 2 Trac.

No, I did not try mixing it with mothballs in a Mason jar and adding it to the gas tank to get 35 mpg. (Google is your friend.)

Shouldn't your nickname be OJohnny, OJohnny. You shouldn't play with Acetone like that unless you've tried it on something other than your GOOD ride!

Only my wife calls me that.

We're lucky I didn't try a belt sander on it. More power, argh, argh, argh.

Actually, a body shop quality wax and grease remover-prep will remove the wax. Unfortunately it's probably $20-25 a qt. Most of those products only come in gallons. I buy mine at NAPA by the qt. And sometimes it takes a soft brush in addition to the scrubbing. Course an Adrenalin has no flares.

Though I have not tied it as of yet, I have read as well as been told by others that Peanut Butter will break was down off of the plastic parts..

In my younger days, I worked at a detailer. We would use a tiny bit of kerosene - that removed everything except the paint. Did it often to the same cars and never saw the paint affected.

I use "ICE" wax from I think Turtle Wax company and it covers up all the wax on plastic and recoats it to a nice shine and is VERY easy to use. I would recomend it over the other waxes..easy to apply and easy to remove

I've always used Back To Black, it worked on every truck up until this one. It doesn't last very long on a Gen 2. Compared to my old '05 the flares mark up a lot easier. Even tried a Soft Scrub type product from my company with a toothbrush and it didn't get the wax off the flares either.

Peanut butter....... Many Gen 1 owners used it a lot !!......

Then just clean the PB off.....

Acetetone is a good paint remover. It in some brands of nail polish remover.

It loves to melt plastic.

Were I retired from. One operator used an electricl cleaner spray, that had acetone in it. He cleaned his comuncation radio with it. Melted the plastic housing, completly. His super' didnt believe him. Acused him of laying it on a steam line. So the super' tried the same cleaner on his own radio. Left it on his desk and when he came back an hour later. It was a melted pile of plastic...LOL
