I am currently working on trying to get to the air bag module,does that whole console HAVE to come out?

Yes...... The projects section has a project on installing a console, you could see if that helps you in removing yours...

Go back to the topics of 02/09/09 also and read through my console removal post. "Console removal, Gen 1 High console". I received some good help there and I also posted pics of the bottom of the console so you would know what you're fighting when it doesn't want to pull out. Tool required ......... big rubber mallet.
