I found these 2 rocks while at work and I think that they have gold in them. Does anybody know who I should take these rocks too, to see if it is real gold. [Broken External Image]:
The geometric structure looks just like Pyrite. One way to check it is check the hardness. A knife will push into it if it is real gold since gold is soft.
Yep, that looks like Pyrites (Fools Gold) to me. When I was about 10 years old I found a nugget about the size of a walnut that was solid gold (pyrites).
Pyrites has a crystal like structure while gold is more like a vein or speckled look. The rock on the right definely has a crystal structure which makes it pyrites.
Pyrites looks impressive by it is pretty much worthless except to maybe a rock hound who might give you $2.00 for it.
