Anyone here changed the 4wd module?

Sorry that this went under 'General Info' but I hit the wrong key...



I need to change my 4wd module, and I <b>THINK</b> it's behind the radio in the dash. Anyone here changed theirs or know where it's at exactly???

Andy had it done at the dealer's a couple of weeks back, but I'm not paying the dealer to install it, seeing as how I gave them $1000 for my tranny earlier this month.

I talked to Wade, my Service Advisor at Downtown Ford yesterday, and told him that his 'mission' for last night was to find out from one of his mechanics where the module was located. He's the one that told me it was behind the dash.

Krash, yup i did have it done on Nov 5... $195.00 for the part, and another $60 for labor...not too bad, and with todays snow here in buffalo, it worked just fine! I dont know where it is in the truck since they changed it though sry..

I got the module for $91, and I don't want to pay $60 to have them unplug & plug in the new one. And wouldn't you know it, today it works. But I'm tired of it NOT working when I need it.



OK, it DOES go in the dash, behind the radio. That's from the Ford mechanic. I'll let ya know...

I found it! It's located behind the radio bezel, next to the radio, on the left side as you look into the dash. Black box with 2 plugs, a gray one and a black one. Remove the radio bezel as you would to change out or work on your H.U. Definately a future project write up!

Only problem is, the one I have is the wrong one! Oh well, we didn't have a part # to work with, and the one I have is for a Ranger/ Exp Sport. Oops. I'll have to wait until Monday to get the right one ordered. No worries! No snow predicted here for quite some time...

Damn, now i feel dumb...i coulda done that myself...i have the entire radio out anyways cuz my hu is in for repair....so i blew 60 bucks lol...damn thanks for the insight though lol
