Having problems with my PS CS3. My "registry tweak" won't let me reinstall. So just wondering about Gimp. Lots of people on the web say it is just as good. And of course it's free.

Just asking:eek:nline:

Hay LaRue,

Can you translate that into English??

What is PS CS3? I'm guessing some kind of Play Station?

As for GIMP? I don't have a clue. :banghead:

Richard,, PS CS3 = Photoshop CS3, Gimp.. that's the software name. I downloaded the gimp last night and it sucks.......... I have got to make my PS work. If I could steal 200 bucks from somewhere, I would get Rue's girlfriend to go buy a student version of the new CS5. It's the same as the retail but about 500 bucks cheaper. oh well..........

LaRue, I would double check the student version doesn't put a watermark or something like it on the finished product. I had a student version of autocad and it printed watermarks on all four paper edges saying it was from an educational version.

LaRue,

Thanks for the translation. I have not used Photo Shop in about 10 years, so I was not familiar with the abreviations. I have no clue about GIMP. It sounds like a Photo Shop add-on, but what does it do?

Brandon, I have a student version of PS 7,,, no restrictions, just cheaper for students. Called Adobe and they same the same thing,, retail program, just cheaper price.

Richard,, Gimp is a open source "PS" program. Too much of a learning curve for me.. Time to fix PS.

GIMP is great for what it was designed for, and that was NOT to be a replacement or a competitor of PS. It's like buying a Fiesta and bitching it doesn't tow as much as an F-150
