Question for the members here. I have a 2004 Sport trac....and sometimes when I start it up, the battery indicator on the dash doesn't move at all....almost like the battery is completely dead. But no fault light comes up on the dash....as well the vehicle starts up and drives fine. Also, when this happens, if I shut the engine off, and then turn back on, the indicator will then move to the midpoint of the gauge like it normally should and shows a good charge on the battery.

This is leading me to believe that either a have a bad gauge in the dash...or whatever is reading the voltage of the battery and sending that to the gauge to display is faulty. Any ideas?

Thanks for reading.
