WOW!!!

THE ACREAGE — A man changing his car's oil was badly hurt this evening when a jack gave way and his car crushed him, officials said.

The 55-year-old man was working at his home on 71st Place North when the car fell on him about 8:20 p.m., said Palm Beach Fire-Rescue Capt. Don DeLucia. The man, whose name wasn't made public, was flown by helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center, DeLucia said.

An update on his condition wasn't immediately available.

" I knew I was going to get some assinine comment from you. "

sorry you feel that way.

i know you are a great do it yourself person, but i was just surprised that you made comments that it was a somewhat risky procedure.

imo, work like this with that size of vehicle should be done at a shop and not on jack stands.

glad overall everything is ok

It is no more risky than working under a car or truck.

I take a risk anytime I am road. Everytime I see a Toyota pull up behind me, I wonder if this is it. Am I going to get rear ended by a runaway Toyota.:bwahaha:

As with anything in life, there is always a risk. I work in a facility that builds units that weigh in excess of 100 tons (200,000 lbs). It can be a very dangerous place to work at times. I take a risk at being at work every day I am there. I am responsible when my employees enter a confined space using flammable chemicals to perform inspections. If they get injured, I must answer for them. I take a risk anytime I crank out a radioisotope to perform radiography. The dangers are there.

This is the risk I take every day I go to work. I don't let fear make me stay in the house.

I know that people are fallable, and even the best make mistakes.

**** happens. This is life. Leaving it to the professionals does not guarentee me not to be stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire because that minimum wage employee cut some corners because his boss wanted him to hurry up.

The professionals screw stuff up all the time.
