I have an oppertunity to by a 2002 BMW X5 that is in very nice shape and loaded to the hilt with options. (Power roof, leather every thing, heated seats, navigational system etc).

Any one know of existing issues with this moel?

Thanks in advance...

CJ - I'm a big fan of Beemers. Exceptional quality and workmanship. BMW treat their owners right! I've had nothing but good service from our local BMW dealer when we get our Beemers serviced.

You will be happy.

Thanks,

SST

the owner of my company had one and loved it . no issue's . when the lease was up she went with the 7 series, did not like it and wen't back to a new X5.

my opinon, good choice.

I will give up the Trac to get the BMW so it does come with mixed emotions. Although I do not use the Trac as a truck often, I do like having a full cab and a bed to boot.

On the flip side.... The X5 seems to be very nice. It does have 50k miles but goes down the road great.

I am holding out till Friday just because.....

Any advice is appreciated...

A good friend has one and has had no real problems. Overall reliability has not been very good for the production, but his has been fine.

BTW, a VERY sweeeeet ride!

Is it a 3.0 or 4.4? I drove both at the BMW performace center in SC and was impressed with their off road ability- lots of good info here:

It is the 3.0 with the Sport Package.

They have a New 2005 X5 there as well but it has a sticker of $58,000. They have a 06 X5 that has a racing engine in it. It looks just like the 02 I am interested in and it has a sticker of just under $75,000.

It is pretty but I can buy a small home in some locations for that amount of money... LOL

I bought my daughter an older 5 series for her 16 birthday and I have drove it and worked on it. I love this car and if it is any indication of their other products I would say there first class. But yo must consider one serious issue... The upkeep and maintence is verrrrry expensive. I just replaced u joints and insted of 6 to 9 bucks each I paid $39 each and this was after shopping arround and buying aftermarket through bma autoparts (a verry good place to get BMW parts). Go on line and price out all your common wear items and serch I will leave you a link to a bimmer forum it has a section for X series. good luck.

PS beemers are the bikes and bimmers are the cars guys.

I paid for one oil change on my Z3- the first and last time the dealer did anything on my car that wasn't under warranty- oil change was just over $100.
