Hi, I recently did somethign very stupid, and crashed into a flat deck trailer. I have a big crack on the rear quarter panel, on the back near the bumper.

Instead of wasting hundreds of dollars at a body shop, id like to attempt to fix this myself.

I have a couple questions regarding this....

I need to remove the rear panel, to get behind the panel to reinforce the area where its cracked, and do the internal repairs... How do i go about this, it almost looks like i have to remove the box to get at the scews between the bed, and the cab?

Secondly, what kind of things do I really need to do to fix this... sinces its fiberglass.

Any info will help!

The box is only held on by the screws in the bed... You should be able to get to the panel screws. You can remove that to work on it. I would have coaste do a junk yard search for you, You may be able to find the same color panel and just replace it cheaper than fixing....

You did not mention which side. So I did a search for a drivers side just to give you some prices.

Found some new ones (2) for $350.

Found several listed a GREY, could be silver, depends on who is looking at it. 165 to 300 dollars.

Found 2 silver listed at $350.00

If nothing else this will help you decide what direction to go as far as fixing it or replacing it.

E-mail me if you would like additional help.

Wow, thats great news Coastie... It is the passenger side however...

How much to ship a new one to Calgary, AB Canada T2A 2S7?

Thanks a ton!

Hey Chris, I am from Calgary also, if you grab the yellow pages and look under auto recyclers you will see some listings for some edmonton yards. A couple of them have ST's, so you may be able to find what you need on this side of the border which will cut down customs and shipping costs. Good luck.

Pretty sure I can do a search with only Canadian Yards in the data field.

I'll get to it in a bit. Spending time with my kids until bed time...

Just did a search with ONLY Canada in the search field. Only three came up. One with a crack that says call for price, One good one that says call for price and a third good one that is listed for 400 Canadian.

I can tell you from experience that USA yards charge on average $350 delivered to your door. Either new (needs to be painted) or good used ones that are pretty much ready to hand and simply polish.

I'll get some USA prices as I feel they will be cheaper and then send you a list via e-mail with the various options.

If I can help you, great, if not, no problem. Don't feel obligated....

(I have a flight to Houston and back. I'll try to get some info between the flights as I will have 2 hours to kill there).

Chris,

did you find what you were looking for or do you need info from me.

I was in the hospital for a week. Made it hard to catch up to things...
