I know that there are a few people with a body lift and some type of bar installed on the front of their Tracs, whether it be a safari bar, grill guard, whatever. I would like to install a grill guard onto mine. My question is, how difficult is something like this to install after doing a body lift? Would I have to have custom brackets made or is it something that an everyday Joe Schmoe like myself can do at home? I like to do whatever I can myself, and so far that's exactly what I've done, but I don't know how difficult it'll be for me to cut out metal brackets to install the grill guard.

I don't have the grill guard yet, But I would like to find out how hard it'll be before anything else. Besides, Christmas is coming up pretty quick. I'm hoping Santa will be in a giving mood this year.:D

Since it's been awhile for your post with no answers I just wanted you to know someone has read your post (me) and I couldn't really tell you! (didn't want you to think everyone was ignoring you) The person to ask may be Tonka.(lifted Trac);)

well I have recentlly got a 3" body lift installed and plan on trying to get a chrome safari bar installed as well. To my undertsanding it would require the fabrication of some sort of bracket, lucky for me both my brother in law and one of my buddies work in a metal fab shop and are both journeyman welders. So when i get to doing mine I will definately be planning on posting pics and how to's.... maybe they can make more than just for me and I could get some out there to members. I'll keep you posted. (just need to get the safari bar)

That write-up would be great, Big D. It would be even better if your brother-in-law and friend could make a couple of extras. :D

And thanks, stonemiser, for letting me know that I'm not getting passed over. I've thought about emailing Tonka. His ST is awesome. Maybe an email his way wil be my next step. If anybody else has any ideas or experience with this, though, that would be great.

It has to be custom done. I was wondering about the same thing as well. I emailed Tonka a couple weeks ago because he has a safari bar with the 3" body lift and asked the same question. He said it was custom done. Email him and ask how he did it and such I believe he said a friend of his or something custom made it. So email and ask him about it.

Big D, I think we emailed about this topic a few months back, but please keep me in mind if they are able to fab you some brackets. Been debating just selling the safari bar, but Id rather put it back on if possible.

thanks

We have a body lift and a grill guard. Took some steel and a welder, but we got it done. Basically we took the bracket and turned it upside down, then added steel where it needed and drilled some new holes. It's an awsome look...IMHO.
