Just gotta clean out the garage tomorrow to make room, unload and start the slow, expensive process of finishing this build I started over 10 years ago.

Btw, there's about four years of dust on her right now. Such neglect has had me feeling awful.

And no, I didn't tow it with the Sport Trac. I didn't even trust my wife's Z71 Tahoe with such precious cargo. Instead, I borrowed my father in law's Silverado. Smooth trailering.

Here I go again. Sad story for the Sport Trac.

Beautiful Cougar man. My old '71 Torino was the same color with all black interior, I truely miss that car.

I always liked those wheels you have on there, I had Cragar SST's on the Torino and had Keystone classic's on there for a while.

Thanks.

Love the Torinos. I could start a whole collection of old musclecars I'd love to have if I only had the money. '72 is about the cutoff for cool musclecars, IMO. Luckily I already have my dream car. Next is probably a kit Cobra or a Stingray. I had my wife sold on the Cobra (since it will be "for her") until yesterday she saw my parents' neighbor's Stingray and she started leaning back toward Chevy.

The wheels have served me well, but they're not permanent. They were with it when I bought it and there were so many other things more important to spend money on...and still are. I do like them, but they don't match the final look I'll be going for. My dad has a convertible and another hardtop XR7 like mine, so I'll probably give them to him for the hardtop. I'll probably be going deep dish 18s in gunmetal.

Hugh, depending on the width and offset, those would look F'ing sweet on the Trac, same bolt pattern, hell use your spacers if needed.

:banana::supercool:

Jerry, unfortunately, the wheels are 14". That would have been a good use if they could fit, though.

Thanks Brandon.

A good thought. I hadn't considered it and actually had to go check out the size of the wheels because I got excited for a second. I knew they were 14" but had a moment of doubt (and hope) because of the time we've spent apart.

Hey JohnnyO, you going to the Starlite cruise Friday at the church? It's Jeep and offroad night. The one night I look forward to. I'll have my Trac up there in feature row, since the rest of my custom Truck Club is going to Carlisle All Truck Nationals.

Sorry Hugh, :back2topic:

The Mopar guys will pay big money for those wheels to put on their General Lee replicas.

I knew they had some demand, but are there really that many people replicating that ugly car? Yeah, I said it!

Maybe I can make some money off those folks.

Jerry, that second link looks like a great deal. Too far for me, but is going to have me checking my local Craigslists today for some 15s.

I sure wish I had a '69 cougar back... Mine was a 'vert with a 351-2v... An S-code would be sufficient... Here is one of the few pics I still have...

My dad has a ragtop in that same color. He has a 351W-4v. It always pulled harder than mine but it has sat for a few years now after a wiring harness went bad. He doesn't want to start on small things and is just waiting for a chance to tear it completely down for a rebuild. I just opened up the garage a lot by taking mine so hopefully he will get motivated to get back on it.

I see your headlight covers didn't stay down either. I've chased that leak all over the place but can't seem to fix it. I've got it to where they will stay down for a few hours, but they still eventually go back up.

Hugh,, are you going to eliminate the vynal top? I hated the vynal tops, landaus', etc. Especialy on a performance car. My personal VIN code was "wussy"...LOL

But if you are keeping it original, Ill forgive you..LOL

very nice and a great vehicle project. :supercool:"

"gotta clean out the garage tomorrow"

i can make room for that vehicle real quick :driving:

good luck

I am absolutely removing the vinyl top. When I had the body work and paint done, $400 for a new vinyl top was much better than the price for the work required to remove it.
