Can I put a snowplow on my Sport Trac?

A few have done it and say it does a pretty good job. You will be hard pressed to find a set up that fits the Trac. It was not designed to have a plow and the owners manual does say not to install one...

I INSTALLED A SNO-WAY ON AN 03, WORKS GREAT, CLEAR LEXAN PLOW. I DID ADD:

1 TIMBREN SUSPENSION

2 BILSTIEN SHOCKS (FRONT)

3 EDELBROCK SHOCKS (REAR)

4 SHIFT KIT BY FORD DEALER

5 BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN TA KO 265-75-16(NO SUS.MODS.NEEDED

6 I HAD A SIMILAR PLOW ON A 99 RANGER WITHOUT INCIDENT

AND I NEVER BROKE ANYTHING.

THIS CHASSIS IS VERY STRONG, PLENTY OF POWER 4.10 GEARING

I ALSO ADDED TRAILER BRAKES

3/4 TON ST ?

Thanks everyone. Silly me never bothered to check my owner's manual. Although I have seen one at the dealership where I bought my truck with one on it. Does anyone have pictures?

Olaf W,

Being that the Trac is rated to haul 1600 LBS in the bed, it is "technically" a 3/4 ton truck.

An F-150 is a 1 ton and an F-350 would be a 2 ton truck. LOL

...go figure.

The snowplow is no problem. This is the third winter with it on. I now have 90K miles. Nothing has broken, no transmission, suspension, transfer case problems. I had 11 inches of snow to plow on Friday and made stacks about 6 ft high with no problems. I had to clear about an acre where my semi-truck deliveries pull in to my dock. I have to use 4 low in that lot because it is gravel and need to plow slowly to skim the snow just above the gravel. The truck and plow satisfy 100% of my plowing needs. I did change the tire size back to original, still BFG All terrain. I get better traction with the narrower, smaller tires. My plow was installed by Tim Wallace snowplow supply in Bolingbrook, IL. It has never been back for any repairs at all. I used to have a few plow accounts that I did just for fun. I clear my 200 car church lot if the regular plow is late. I looked into a receiver hitch salt spreader that would work on the Trac but I didn't think it was worth $1100. As a snowplow, the ST works fine. Voids warranty? I doubt it. My truck was only under warranty for 1 year anyway with the amount of miles I drive.
