I'm taking the Trac in to the Ford dealer tomorrow to have the cruise control button light bulbs replaced, and to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. Should I have them change the transfer case lube while they are at it?

I very rarely take my Trac offroad or drive on gravel. Most of my driving is highway. It is an '03 and has 31,000 miles on it.

Can you think of any other worthwhile maintenance I should get?

Have you changed the fuel filter? If not, I would change now. Also, I flush the brake system every 24 months to keep the moisture out of the fluid and corroding the pistons.

I did the transfer case, and both axles at 50K.

Even though you don't use the 4wd, the t-case chain is still spinning.... ANY thing you change is wort it.. BUT the diffs at the dealer will run close to 200 EACH!!!!....

You can let them do the t- case, but that is only regular auto fluid, nothing special... IF you have a local shop Let them do it... YOu will save a bunch of money..

The book calls for changing it at 60k. I changed it on the Ranger I had before at 41k just to put synthetic ATF in, and when I drained it the original fluid looked like tar. Did the Trac's at 12k for the same reason and it was pretty dark already. I'd say changing the t-case fluid at 30k and every 30k after is just good preventative maintenance. You can do it yourself really, it isn't hard. I bought an $8 suction gun at Auto Zone to make filling it easier.
