I agree, I get 23% off my Verizon bill as they combined my Federal Employee discount with my Military Discount.

Anything helps...

Thanks Tom. My wife had a Pentium II that ran at 400 MHz.

I college, I worked at an insurance agency that used to use a Xerox computer that didn't have a hard drive. Everything was done on 8" floppies. I got pretty good at CPM commands.

Kevin,

It is not a misprint. Some Pentium III's were that slow The fastest were only about 350 Mhz.

Strange, my old P3 is 700mhz... Maybe you're thinking of the Pentium?

Certain Federal agencies subscribe to Microsoft's Home Use Program (HUP). You should be able to contact your local IT manager to find out if yours is one of them. These programs are not transferable to others and are not authorized for use after you leave the agency that subscribed to the program.

That means legally that I will have to remove Office Pro from my home system when I no longer work for Air Combat Command (my current agency). I don't know the penalties for violation of the HUP policies. Potentially, your agency could lose the privilege of giving this perk to their employees, which in return could get the violator fired.

Another option for military users is to purchase MS Office Standard (Military Appreciation Version). This is sold by AAFES for around $50, which is still much cheaper than the general population pays. This version allows a person to continue use even after separation from the military.

I know I can read details from the Microsoft site, but would like honest input as to the use and quality of product. I don't mind spending the money, just want to ensure I can use it.

MS Office.

Front Page.

Office Mac.

Project.

Publisher.

Visio Pro.

Visio Standard.

Visio Pro and Visio Standard are just two different versions of the same program. Office Mac is designed to run on an Apple (Macintosh) computer. Front Page comes with MS Office Pro. MS Project is for people who manage complex projects. Front Page is for web page development.

MS Project and Visio have free readers available from Microsoft. These suffice as long as you don't need to create new files. If it was me, I would only buy MS Office 2003 Pro. Make sure not to order Office XP, since that is the old version.

I'd hold off for another month or two until the new Office 2007 is released. If you need Word / Excel right now you can always use openOffice or Google Documents for free until then.

Actually, at home, I hardly ever use MS Office any more. Google Document replaced about 90% of my usage and lets me get at my files from anywhere I've got internet.
