I have a 2002 sport trac and replaced the cooling fan today. I realized after replacing it that it was the wrong part number. They looked almost the same except the new one has slightly different edges. I put in a MOTORCRAFT Part # YA220 which is what amazon said would work but im seeing that I was supposed to use MOTORCRAFT Part # YA242. There is a note that I missed that says the one I installed is for Before 10/25/01. Is this going to cause any problems. They are literally almost identical. Has anyone used one of these without an issue? Im about to travel in it and don't want anything to happen. I would order the other one but dont have any time to wait on it or want to waste money if its alright. Thanks in advance

I wouldn't worry about it. I think what's more important (especially if you're traveling) is condition of serpentine belt, hoses and coolant.

Thanks, I didnt want to worry about it anymore. I already covered those this past week. New coolant hoses, thermostat housing, thermostat, water pump, alternator, battery, belt tensioner, belt, intake manifold gaskets tomorrow(has a leak) and oil change. Truck has 88k miles and I couldnt believe it sprang a leak at the t-housing last week, and it was a real pain in the ass to change it. I also changed the spark plugs, fuel filter and transmission fluid around 80k

The first tracs had cooling problems. That is when ford changed the fan and eleminated the splash sheilds above the front shocks. For air discharge.

I still have the splash shields on mine. Seems to be cooling the same as it did, according to the temp gauge.

I really wish I did the intake manifold gasket the same time as the tstat housing, it would have been so much easier.
