If you want to take serious pics, buy a camera body & the lens seperate. Kit lenses are usually bottom of the rung. I know, last April I bought a Nikon D70s camera with an 18-70mm lens (an okay lens) and a 70-300mm lens (junk).

Christmas the old fat man brought a Nikon D200 camera body. Then I got 3 nice lenses (so far) & the difference is amazing. The pics really popped!!!

Remember, your kid only grows up once so make the memories last forever with sharp pics.

Here's my D200 with the 28-70mm f/2.8 zoom. Other lens are 10.5 fisheye, 80-200mm f/2.8. Next lens is the 12-24mm.

That did not work too good...

Here's one I took at work today under less than perfect conditions with my

Canon S3 IS.

No fringing, good contrast and depth of field, and this is only in partial

manual mode:

Printed it out tonight when I got home, and the Canon ZoomBrowser EX Photo

Software that comes with the camera is excellent. Print was true to what was

displayed on screen. :)
