Does anyone out there know how to adjust the door striker or latch in order to have my doors close tighter? They tend to rattle on their gaskets, especially now that it is starting to get cold. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks

I have the same problem. Ford checked and said they were within tolerance and would not adjust them. Something about if they adjust too tight then the seals would collapse??? I have an 05.

Check and see if the bushing on the striker bolt, is not worn out, or broken. I have had to replace them on other vehicles...

Nope.....Bushings are fine. The Trac has had this problem since new (01') But it has progressively gotten worse. Every door except for the drivers door has this problem.

Something I would consider doing instead is getting some more weather seal and attaching it to the door so it contacts the seal in place on the door frame when closed. Higher class cars have been using double weather seals for years and years, while trucks and lower class cars just get a single seal. You'll have a better sealing door, less wind noise, and hopefully less rattles. You can adjust the latch part, but it has to be done with the door panel off, and panel fitting is a complete pain in the rear to get proper gaps and plane alignment, so I'd take the easy way out.

It takes a large torx socket to loosen the stiker bolt, or a pair of channel locks or vise grips, with round jaws...be sure to mark the large washer first,,,on at least 3 sides. The striker bolt wil move in all directions. So you need to know your starting point for reference. Only loosen it enough to be able to bumpit, the amount you want to move it....good luck....

Edit; If you push your door in to much, the body to door alignment will look off...tigers Idea might be a better option...
