Has anyone here had any experience with an engine mounted trolling motor? I do not have much room on my transom and my bow is not really suitable for a bow mount. I have seen these engine mount trolling motors advertised but wonder how well they work and if they will stay attached with all the vibration of a 2-stroke motor.

Thanks

The best mounts are those similar to the engine mount. but they mount to the transom. You need two. One for each side. They are fixed and you control the direction of the boat by by how much power you give each individual electric, remotely.

Their are two problems with the engine mount that may apply to your use. Lots of people use trolling motors for shallow water when they need the drive up to avoid hitting bottom. If you are not in shallow water this is not a concern. The other is that you have to use the motor to steer. This impairs the ability to fish ans steer at the same time. If you are not fishing or are just captaining for other, no problem.

Keep looking for a front mount if possible, they make a lots of different mounts. Cheapest and easiest to steer with since the power is in the bow.

Only one I ever used was a flexible and adjustable mount that was drilled through the transom.. it was like an extension arm..... It worked for what i needed..
