what are your thoughts on this? im looking at getting an exhaust for my st that sounds nice. was looking at the flowmaster 40 and 50 because the 50 sounds pretty nice on the ST 4.0 V6. are there any mufflers that are made that i can use the existing pipes for to get a sound like this? if not what different exhaust systems are there that will give me a good rumble when i rev up a little. also... does a cold air intake help to get a better sound with the new muffer and would a new exhaust/CAI combo improve horsepower any?

link is a vid of a dual flowmaster 50 on a sport trac that has a descent sound to it.

this is one that i really like the sound of and this is the flowmaster 40 the other is a 50 but this also has new headers and a y pipe

That's Todd Z's ST, he has alot of mods done to his Trac.

I installed a Flowmaster 50 series on my ST with dual 2.5" tailpipes I made for it and it sounded ok but once I installed the Random Technology Stainless Steel Y-pipe and High Flow Cat I have eveyone asking me how I fit an V8 in a 1st Gen ST.

I just picked up a Stainless Steel "MagnaFlow" knock off at The Butler Parts a Rama last month. It's a 2.5" in/ dual 2.5" out muffler, I bought two sticks of 8' 2.5" pipes to bend my new tailpipes and can't wait to hear what it sounds like.

Flowmasters are good but rust out too fast up northin the salt belt because they don't put a drain hole in it and it rusts' out form the inside out. I've only had my muffler on there for two and have years and it's shot already.

Removing the resonator made a huge difference after replacing my muffler.

I almost had a flowmaster 50 series installed but at the last minute I was pointed towards a Spintech. I love the way it sounds. I linked a video of mine on the second page of this thread. Just another idea...

Good sound from a V6 is pretty quiet in my opinion. But, to each their own.

As Jerry mentioned, apparently rust is a major issue with Flowmasters in the north. Also, I've always been very impressed with the sound of most Magnaflow equipped vehicles I've come across. Their prices are better, too.

I did just put a Flowmaster 50 SUV on my wife's Tahoe and it sounds really good. I found it difficult to judge exhaust sounds from youtube since everyone thinks it should be recorded right at the tip of the exhaust pipe. Or maybe that's just Chevy folks...

To me the spintech sounds the same on the V6 as the flowmaster.

I did hear a definit difference on the videos of spintechs on the V8's.

Especialy the ones using X-pipe crossovers.

Im curious to hear a hooker aero-flow, on a 4.0L. It has a strange velocity chamber.
