I started my ST this morning and the thermometer and compass cluster wouldn't cut on. The temperature outside was 44 degrees with 5mph winds, which made it even colder. When I pushed the mode button a few times, it would cut on, but go out after a few seconds. However, the reading on it when it was on was accurate. This is the first time I have noticed the problem which leads me to believe it has something to do with the cold weather. If anyone has had this problem and/or a way to fix it, please let me know.

Same thing happened to me. Got a new unit from a local junkyard for $5. Has been working for about two years since now. Same as same model explorers.

I didn't have that problem (mine was the overhead console bulb sockets melting), but I found a replacement OEM console on eBay for around $40.00 (with functioning bulbs and now my original display as a spare).
