Trying to decide what to brew up next. I tend toward IPA's but basically any open beer is just fine by me. I've made about 8-10 different styles, just looking to see if I'm missing something big that I haven't had before.

Currently on tap is "Franklin Lite" a Classic American Pilsner (mom was in town and doesn't like good beer ) and "Big Head Irish Red" which is pretty tasty for sure.

I like IPA's myself, just got a case of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA tonight. Misery Bay IPA from Erie Brewing is very good. This time of year I like heavier ales, bocks, and double bocks though. Highly recommend Troegenator Double Bock if it's available where you live. If sex came in a beer bottle it would be Troegenator.

I just tried a new one (to me tonight) It was called something like Rougue Dead Guy. I thought it was awesome. Really enjoyed it. Im not sure what category it fits in.

Don't know what one bitterness unit tastes like, but ah do know that anything on there with "high" alcoholic content has a ton of 'em.

Come to check, mah bottle of Listerine has more alcohol by volume than most anything on here. Even Parrot Bay is beating these things out. :bwahaha:

(And Parrot Bay is smooth and easy to even the most unaccustomed alcoholic palate.)

Let me know when you find an actually good beer though, I keep trying em and they all suck. As to the topic, I can tell you what to avoid, but you already know that.

Until then, I'll continue my friendship with Mr. Gin

I've made a double bock before which was pretty tasty, but it's getting to warm for that now since it's a lager and I can only lager in the garage.

I've never been a huge stout fan, I'll drink them here and there, and Terminator stout is the beer that broke me away from crappy american beer so stout does hold a special place in my heart. 5 gallon batches though makes for a lot of heavy drinking when it comes to stouts.

Rogue Dead Guy is a German Maibock, so I again can't make it because of outdoor temperatures being too warm now.

I still think I'm leaning toward another IPA.. might just experiment more with the recipe.

Not a huge fan of Red or brown ales(I'll drink them, just not my favorite styles). But everything else I love, depending on the season. IPA's are by far my favorite though.

Does one have to have a favorite beer?

I think that the different types and syles of beer is what makes it such a universal beverage, that appeals to such a large audiance. I prefer to try different beers depending upon the mood I am in and how adventurous I may feel that day. I may not care for every beer I try, but any favorites I find may only be for that place on that day.

When you lock in on one favorite you miss out on the adventures offered by all the other beers out there and you will keep comparing and judging them to your favorite...The variety of different beers are designed to be different for a reason and are just as complex as many fine wines.

Just because you have a favorite doesn't mean thats all you have to drink.

Last night we went out to dinner and I had a Scottish ale because I couldn't remember ever having had one.. I'm sure I have, but I couldn't remember and with thinking about what I want to make I wanted to try something that I don't typically have.

Personally, I am a fan of Belgian White and Cream Ales. Scotch ales are good as well.

Rocks

Maybe something light for the summer(don't know how long it has to ferment) A fruited beverage? Apple or maybe citrus? Good luck, BC-Have been a true friend of Bill W. for a long time now, just wanted to fantasize a bit on this. :haveabeer:

When I used to brew my own beer I used to like making honey porter but with summer coming on it maybe nice to make a blueberry ale or something like that. Also speaking of fruit a cup of corn sugar added to a gallon of apple juice makes for some nice apple cider which you can bottle in the same way as your beer, its great after you let it age for a couple of months.

no beer for me that I have to chew... My Fav is Bradors, (Canada only, road trip required), Followed by Yuegling (which is bradors w/o the horsepower), followed by Labbatt's Blue, Fosters (Austrailian for Beeer), and thehomemade stuff that is currently cooking in the garage...:haveabeer:
