Okay, went there the first time a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else think they are the sh!t (that is a good thing)?

Awesome burger!

Oh, I got one of the small burgers and only ate 1/2 the fries. They do feed you, but still watching what I eat. Total lost since Feb...60 lbs.

Anyone else like 5 Guys?

They have a store locator on the website (link below).

They are a great buger joint. They opened one near me in Wayne NJ that I have gone to a few times. Great fries and good prices. I also saw one down in Washington DC (their starting point - I believe) but didn't stop in. :supercool:

Never heard of them. Funny thing is, their website's store finder says there's one within five miles of me, in a shopping area we visit frequently. They must not be advertising much locally yet. Might have to check 'em out...

Very good burgers.

I have heard that "Brown Bag Burgers" puts Five Guys to shame, but I find that REALLY hard to believe.

Bill V, some coworkers live in Maple Grove and they've tried them out and said they were really good. I think Kare 11 did a story on them a few months back too.

Call me crazy, but I don't see the big deal. My wife and I went - each of us had a burger and we split an order of fries. We also had a drink each. Came to nearly $20. The burgers were OK...nothing to write home about. Ditto with the supposed awesome fries. I won't be back.

TJR, sounds like your vocabulary is being corrupted. Since you're big on semantics, I'm stunned as to why you used this.

If only this could be ironic in that 5 guys was sh!t, but it is alright. I wish they had variety with the side offerings though, as it is pretty barren. I'd like it if I could get a side of some of the condiments, as that would lend variety (the spice of life), and allow me to get things that I normally wouldn't as I hate having too many veggies on my burger, as they keep it from holding together.

Though each time I eat @ 5 guys (which is very infrequent), I feel like I'm going to die from arterial plaque. "Elizabeth, ah'm comin to join yah!"

Fairly expensive though, and one of my friends ordered several burgers(for several people) from a 5 guys at his work, checked most of them for correctness, got home (20+ miles away), and discovered that one burger only had the condiments...no meat. In a borderline apoplectic fit he went back to the 5 guys and presented his case, and they had the temerity to accuse him of eating the meat and lying about it.

Sadly, my friend isn't a violent man :(

And such was my last involvement with 5 guys.

Five Guys is good, I like FuddRuckers better, because they have a condiment bar.

They give you way too many fries, which seems like a waste.

They have been popping up all over the place, crazy growth!

I like CheeseBurger Bobbys a little better than Five guys, about the same price.

I really like the new hardees, they are much improved, was there about a month ago,

they sit next to McDonalds, McDonalds was busy and Hardees was not.

Everything at Hardees is better than McDonalds! Why would anyone wait for McCrap

then walk right in to Hardees?

I have no idea, but it's the same thing here in MD. McD's is always packed...and I don't see why, as I personally think it blows.

Hardees did get rid of their Hershey's ice cream stand, which is brutal as now they're back to the same "Mystery Ice Cream" that the other places use.

Speaking of other places, I haven't heard of most of these alternates you've mentioned. Must be a local thing, like Steak 'n Shake (ew).

I have to agree with Bo on this.. Wife and I had lunch there in Lee's Summit MO, and while the food was good, it was not all that exceptional... And the cost was (IMO) way overpriced for what was received.

Have a 5 guys here..... WAY overpriced for a basic burger........ Would rather go to the local diner and get a better burger for the same price....

We have other burger places like that here that are better.....

Thanks for the tip AndyC. Yet more reason for me to go try them out.

SmashBurger is pretty good. And Red Robin is respectable too. I'm not as big of a fan of Fuddruckers.

Haven't tried Hardee's in a while, and was unaware of any change. When I last had them, I thought they were extremely greasy. Maybe they've improved.

Haven't had an In 'n Out burger since I was last in SoCal about 8 years ago--but I may need to figure out a way to make a trip out there sometime, just to get another one of those.

Guys, I think we're changing classes here. Fuddruckers & Red Robin aren't fast food joints like all these others. Comparing a sit-down, booze-serving restaurant with places that are all about fast food (and in most all cases here have drive-thrus) doesn't seem kosher.

(Though I wish that more places took note from Canada and served booze everywhere...and @ affordable rates, but that's a pipe dream)

5 Guys isn't the same anywhere else besides the Northern Virginia area. Originated in Springfield. Best burgers hands down. You need to try the vinegar with the fries, makes them that much better.

I thought that vinegar on fries was strictly an East Coast thing...

(Like the "boardwalk fries" fast food places)

I've been to ones near DC on the Maryland side, and if NoVA is anything like those, you'll need fluent Spanish to order any durn thing. At least my local ones employ local legal kids to work 'em....which means that I don't need to try and understand an El Salvadorian accent.

If they originated in Springfield, that explains how they exploded into MD, going south to north.

:back2topic: If 5 guys proffers the best hamburger, then I guess I'm just missing out on all the wonder about 'em.

Like I said, I don't know anything about Five Guys--but the fact that bud had compared them to Fuddruckers, and bo had indicated that two burgers and an order of fries ran $20, I was guessing that they were more in the Fuddruckers/Red Robin/Smashburger class. Sorry if I came to the incorrect conclusion.

So are you saying that, in your opinion, 5 Guys is more in the McD's/Hardees/BK/Wendys class, rather than the Fudd/Red Robin/SmashBurger class?

Five Guys is much better than any fast food joint, but nothing worthing driving out of your way for.
