Ford service plan

Is the Ford service plan really worth it? I have 49,000 miles on my 01 St, with no warranty on it. I bought it private sale. I've already rebuilt the transmission. If I got it, does it mean that if anything that is covered, stops working properly and needs to be replaced, and is covered under this warrranty will be fixed at there cost? :huh:

Personally, I wouldn't purchase one now. If you think you need one because you suspect the truck will cause costly problems then dump the truck now. If you are getting it as an INSURANCE policy, than take the same amount of money you would spend on the service plan, bury it in the back yard and dig it up again if you have a costly repair. That's a better deal than a service plan, IMHO, as because, unlike a service plan, if NOTHING BAD happens you can always spend the money on something else.

I agree with TJR, except I would put it in the bank instead of the back yard, so it would accumulate some interest, even if it is only 1 or 2%.



All companies sell extended warranties because they make the company money. If they were going to spend more on average repairing your car than they get from you, then they wouldn't sell them. Odds are any repairs you will have done won't cost as much as the extended warranty will cost you.



Obviously an extended warranty would have already helped you. You've already had a problem, and were not covered. But you have to decide if the peace of mind of knowing your future repairs would be covered is worth the money to you.

You can't get a Ford ESP once the original warranty has expired - by miles or time.



If you really want to pursue an extended warranty, you'll have to go after market.
