fuel guage problem

I just went and had a fill up on gas (down to $2.03 here in Louisville).

When I got back in the ST I noticed the guage said 1/2 full.

I thought when I got up to go to work this morning it might reset itself. But it didn't.

How do I check if it is the guage or the tank sensor?

Any help that would make this fix an easy one, would be appreciated.

My guess is it is the sender in the tank.... You can try hitting the tank with your hand or a rubber mallet to see if it is stuck... Then turn on the truck to see if it moves...

It could be the anti-slosh module in the dash, but unlikely....

It's the fuel level sensor in the tank. I have an 04 and had to have the sensor in the tank replaced. I filled up and it would register empty. Fortunately, for me it was covered under warranty and drove straight to dealership to show and tell. Wish I knew what to tell you on fixing it yourself. Todd's idea would be my first try.
