that had to be a setup,, the airbag would have hurt him a whole lot more than that. Still it IS funny:bwahaha:

LaRue,

I think it would have been a much harder impact if he was actually moving and hit something to cause the airbag to deploy. That way he would be moving forward with momentium and probably would have made the airbag impact much harder.

I do think it's odd that the airbag would deploy with such a light bump and without the vehicle moving??? I know Ford says their airbag does not deploy unless the vehicle is moving 30 MPH or faster at impact??? Is that based on the Vehicle Speed Sensor, or the ABS sensors??? Since most people will jam on the brakes in an emergency, so even if the ABS kicks in, I don't think it would get an accurate speed reading and I don't know if the VSS would get an accurate speed reading either??? Hmmmmm?

That sets off my "BS" detector as well. Even if the light impact could set off the air bag, as was already said, that guy would be more messed up from the impact, an impact which didn't look "right".

It's still funny, but that old woman was at fault there, IMO. Many states require yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk, specifically meaning that a car cannot legally drive across a crosswalk containing a person, even if the person has already passed the part of the crosswalk where the car will cross at. By simply standing stone-still in the crosswalk, the woman was performing a "denial of service" attack on the road.

KL,

Denial of service?? My take on the video is that the old lady was about to cross the street at a designated crosswalk (see the blue sign) Off camera you can hear the that the driver had to slam on the brakes....That would normally cause anyone to stop/freeze and be skeptical about stepping in front of the vehicle. I think any delay in crossing was probably due to her trying to insure it was safe to cross in front of that car.

As for the idea that the airbags should have messed the guy up more, I disagree. The driver was stopped and sitting back in the seat. Under that situation, the airbag would barely reach him. Had he been moving at 30-40 MPH and hit something, his body would have been moving forward at several G forces as the airbag deployed at 200+MPH velocity into his face..,..That will violently push you backward with sufficient force to cause some minor injuries like bruised and bloody noses, lips and blackeyes, etc.

I do feel that the video was staged by the simple fact that the vehicle was stopped, and the airbag should have never deployed when the old lady hit the license plate with her shopping bag....even hitting it with a baseball bat should not have set off the airbag And if that part was staged, then I suspect the driver may have had his seat moved back to insure that the airbag would not reach him, and then the old lady was not denying him of the use of the road...she was following the script..:bwahaha:
