Does the G.E.M on a 2001 st have to be reprogrammed or does it come factory programmed if I buy direct from ford? If yes, is it a DIY job or professional?
It has to be programmed. Any shop with a Ford scan tool can do it but the old module needs to be installed first so that the scan tool can download the configuration from the old module, then you install the new module and upload the information to it. If the old module is dead then you have a few more hoops to jump through.
Ford did a diagnostic check and claimed it is a switch issue. Ordered my switch from ebay (76.00$). Will see if it is that simple. Hoping it's not the GEM module.
