Green Bay Packers or Pittsburgh Steelers?

I normally watch Animation Domination on Fox on Sunday evenings, but I'm recording it this Sunday for later. However, if they're reruns, I'll just skip the recording and watch them later on Adult Swim.

My problem is why does every football game always last longer than the time alloted?

Seriously, if every game goes 30 minutes longer than the scheduled time, why not give an extra 30 minutes for the game?

Give me a break. If the game goes into OT, then I understand, but every single game? Seriously, do we really need to hear the reporters talk about all the moves in the game for another hour after the game is over?

Tom

Caymen, I agree, but I think they should take the opposite tact with regard to how they handle the situation--Once the game ends, do the old "We now join our originally scheduled programming already in progress." That way, the shows later in the night aren't impacted. In a world full of DVRs, they way they're doing it right now causes the entire night's programming to be lost. Joining "in progress" causes the early programming to get lost--completely--but the stuff later in the night can record properly.

Another option--now that we have the ability for one broadcaster to broadcast multiple digital channels, stay with the football on channel XX.1, but start the scheduled programming, at the regular time, on channel XX.2. Once football is over, revert to both channels showing the scheduled programming.

I don't care either. I just hope it's not a one-sided game that is decided by the end of the first quarter.

Many of the Super Bowl games have been notorious flopps because for what ever reason, one of the teams does not show-up ready to play at a professional level. Often times both teams have problems playing at a professional level, and you get a comedy of fumbles, interceptions and stupid mistakes.

In my opinion, of the previous 44 Super Bowl games, only about 10 were worth watching and only about 4 qualify as truely great games.

I think it gets pretty bad when the commercials are the most entertaining and memmorable part of watching the game.

...Rich

RichardL, why do you think they charge so much to air commercials during the game, it's when most people are watch are expecting "great commercials" because the games like you said have sucked.

LOL. Actually what I'm looking forward to the most.

Wow, I guess I'm in a minority. I love watching every single Super Bowl. I especially love when the Steelers make it.

Commercials are a chance to get another beer and refill your appetizer plate, not be entertained.:smack: Women talk about the commercials on Monday; men talk about the game. This is the natural order of things. I have never seen a commercial as exciting as a Polamalu interception or Roethlisberger to Wallace deep ball.

I think its time to start withdrawing man cards.

:eek:fftopic:In related news, the feds have seized control of sports websites using the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. Good thing we solved that enormous problem, maybe now we have time to move on to illegal immigration. I regularly watch NFL games streaming. It costs me the same whether I watch it on tv or the internet; this is stupid.

Umm...why can't we enjoy both?

I, for one, watch the game live for the game (especially this year to support the Pack!), using the commercials as food/beverage/bathroom breaks; and I TiVo the game to watch again later on strictly for the ads. (Although this year, if the Packers win, I suspect the second, and even the third, viewing will be for the game--it won't be until the fourth viewing that I get around to seeing the ads.)

I honestly do check out youtube for the commercials everyone talks about that I miss, but to say the commercials are the reason for watching the Super Bowl just blows my mind. It's like saying you go to a carnival just to get peanuts.

Oh well. If you turn the ball over three times and your opponent turns it over zero times, you probably aren't going to win. Doesn't matter if it's a pre-season game or the Super Bowl.
