I went to the Grand Canyon today, drove to the rim for a pedestrian view and then flew over it in an Aerocopter OC-30. Woo Hoo!. Oh, and the Trac is performing flawlessly.

On to Kingman tomorrow, Las Vegas or the London Bridge, can't decide?

Vegas would be way more fun, Lake HAvasu is fun only in certain times of the year. Theres really not that much in kingman to see. be prepared for traffic on the hoover damn though!

If you have time you should make your way down to sedona. nice scenery for the drive. If you do, you have to stop by the oak creek brewing company and try the nut brown ale.

Paul - that is a beautiful piece of country for sure. I'm getting ready to head to the Grand Canyon at the end of this month for a weeklong backpacking trip to Phantom Ranch and Clear Creek located at the bottom.

I'll get to see the areas not seen via helicopter. Fortunately, there is a 'no-fly' zone over the best parts of the canyon that I hope remains in force. The noise from helicopters and planes ruin it for the folks hiking in the canyon.

I did that trip in a big ole lincoln towncar about 2 yrs ago. Flew into Vegas for 3 nights, then to the hoover damn/ grand canyon for 2 days then on to sadona for 1 night and finally into scottsdale for 2 nights and flew out of phoenix......

ok, Vegas via Sedona. lunch at the Cowboy Club, Oak Creek may not be open until 4:00 p.m..

Frank, where did you stay in Sedona?

Darin, the fly-zone is respected by the good co.'s. Enjoy your time at the bottom.

Well I cant remember the name of the place in Sedona, but if you were heading south it was on the left and the hotel was built right into the side of the mountain. You kinda had to make a left then head down this long driveway down a hill. It was a pretty big place and there really wasnt many hotels in Sedona. As a matter of fact, if you blink twice...you'd miss the town of Sedona, lol The view was the red rock mountains. I took the "pink jeep" wrangler tour on the off road trails. it was great!

I also remember coming down this STEEP, long ,winding, hill road into Sedona.....

FMarano... that road (Hwy 89A) is extremely twisty for about a 7 mile section after you drive past the lookout point not far from Flagstaff. Loved driving that in a Mustang convertible! :)

Thanks, I did enjoy it. The drive up to the Canyon was very nice with a section that had a lot of birches. The traffic was light in and out of Sedona. I had a smoked buffalo sandwich with a tall glass of very good nutty brown ale from Oak Creek Brewing Co. Thanks for the tip Darin! :D
