Thank you for allowing me to your community. I have a 2001 sport trac that I got from a kid that didn't take care of it. I got it running but sounds like a diesel motor clattering. I'm in the process of pulling motor to put new timing system in the 4.0. So I'm sure I may have some questions.

Do update us with your engine pull+rebuild, pics of progress would be great.
May want to consider pulling+rebuilding Trans also, assuming an auto 5r55e;
if abused\neglected they tend to fail sooner than later.

Is yours a Job1 (Intake looks like a Pretzel) or a Job2 (later style Intake)?

Thank you dillardooo. I believe my intake is old intake like a spider 3 on each side. I can't figure out your signature where i can find the info.

Sounds like a later year 2001 Job2 IntakeManifold.
See your door sticker build month: roughly 2000Jan~2000Jun=Job1 or 2000Jul~YearModel2003=Job2.
