Waxed the ol' ST today. Decided to remove the EXPLORER badge on tailgate. But now I have a black EXPLORER instread of a silver/chrome one.

So what is good for removing the rubber/gule backing without removing the paint too?

I know I saw that info on here but search didn't bring it up.

Goo-Gone works well and wont harm the paint. Put some on and let it soak in. Put more on and use a terry cloth or old towel to rub with. It will take several applications. Wax the area afterwards. I recently used it to remove the same after removing the wind visor from my wifes sun roof...

The important thing is to let the solven do the work no mater what you use. Use very little pressure or you will have serious swirl marks where you were rubbing.

DON"T use the water pressure from the self-service car wash like I did. It removes the backing OK, but it also removes the PAINT. Huge chips and chunks came off, and now my tailgate needs repainting.

I am so ticked.
