I drilled a hole in my roof

I have a two-way police-type radio in my truck for EMS use. For years I used a glass-mount antenna. It was a compromise and never worked well. I finally got the nerve to install a proper roof-mount antenna, which involved drilling a 3/4-inch hole. Man...what a difference!

Same experience with thru-glass antennas, not too good! I opted for a fender mount for the NMO as opposed to the (OMG!!) 3/4" hole in the roof. We have hundreds of City vehicles running these so they must be okay. Works well for me.
