Okay, I put in a new idler pulley and tensioner. the tensioner is fine, no more rattle, and a lot less vibration at the wear indicator.

The new idler pulley wobbles  the old one didn't wobble. The new one isn't making any noise, neither did the old one, but there is a wobble when idlling. if I bring it up to 1K + RPM, it seems to stop wobbling.

It isn't a violent wobble, and the belt does not wander with the wobble, the belt is tracking true.

Both are genuine ford replacements.

Thoughts please.

Thanks.

The bearing in the idler pully may not be seated flat against the stop...I changed the idler on my mustang last year...I had to tap the bearing in against its rest.....

It probably still wobbles at high rpm...just cant see it...

My new one did that too, I believe the extra play is left in there so it doesn't make noise...

Bad engineering answer, Sad but true..
