well just got back into home territory, too bad the race got rained out but it was awesome, plain and simple. i've been to other Nascar and NHRA events, but none of them compared to daytona...i'll try to get some pics up soon...

what do you guys think of junior's move that they claim caused the wreck? you think it's his fault?

Vicker's only win at Talledega occurred with the same move. He punted Jr & JJ for the win.

If it is found he was at fault and did this on purpose, then he should be banned from racing. There is no room for this, since even a minor-looking accident can kill (just look at what happened with his dad).

I don't think that it was intensional, he was boxed out down onto the skirt and almost lost it when he was bumped down there and just tried to recover it. I think that when he tried to get back above the line he was brake checked alittle and couldn't slow down/ keep control of the car at the same time, And that's why they say Rubbing is Racing. OOOPS!! :p

I guess if you are a Junior fan than you would see it as Vicker's fault, visa versa.

What I saw was 2 inconsiderate lap down drivers fighting for the lucky dog,for when or if it was to come out.

In any event they were both inconsiderate.Drivers like that don't get any where!

Sr. died without killing any body else. It was only a matter of time before either happened. Sr was very aggressive that's how he was, Jr is just following in his daddy's footsteps.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's all Vickers' fault. Dale Sr. was an aggressive driver from the days of real racing, but Dale Jr. isn't like his dad in that way, he doesn't look to wreck anyone especially in front of the entire pack. If you watch what led up to the wreck you'll see that Vicker's did in fact shove Jr. down onto the skirt and when he tried to recover did go abck up into Vickers. I personally don't have a favorite driver now a days. I like the older drivers from the days when stockcar racing was "stockcar" racing, these new fast and the furious looking cars and young whiney drivers need to go over to Indy car racing if they don't like to play tag on the track. Call me old fashioned, but I think that there is too much commercialism and political B.S. involved in any type of sports now a days, especially NASCAR

"and young whiney drivers need to go over to Indy car racing if they don't like to play tag on the track."

Exactly what's wrong with NASCrAP racing, it ain't racing... it's a gladiator sport. That's how people get hurt or killed. There shouldn't be contact between cars, especially on purpose!

What I saw was two drivers one lap down racing for position, Jr. went for the pass Vickers obviously slower blocked him to stay in front forcing Jr. down onto the apron. This part of the track is a flat surface, the track itself is banked and yes even on the straight aways at Daytona. At that speed coming back off the apron gets tricky the two drivers touched and we have an accident. Were they overly agrressive for that point of the race definitely; they looked like a couple of not only rookies but very inexperienced rookies.

As far as contact in NASCAR racing, it always has been and alway will be there, when you have this many cars this equal in performance driving on an oval or similar track it is going to happen. Two drivers going for the same position at the same time who is supposed to give up and let the other one win?

There is a very long list of people ahead of Jr. who would be banned from racing, including his father & Vickers, if this were to be done.

People die in all kinds of sports. Should football be banned because someone dies or should skiing be banned because someone dies? People die going to work everyday. This is the same as saying a sport should be banned because you don't like it.

If you don't like NASCAR, don't watch.

Was Vickers at fault? No.

Was Earnhardt at fault? Yes.

Here's Why:

He had a bad day and was not on the ball. Most of us who watch know that Jr. does not usually do crap like that (I am NOT a Jr fan... I will support just about anyone else in a 43 car field.... other than Gordon). It's my belief that he just plain ole had a bad day and given what else was going on wasn't in the right mind.

I am not making excuses. It flat out should have been avoided. He had plenty of room to blend back into the field without damaging/destroying 9 other cars.

Vickers did what he could have/should have done. It was 100% upto par. He gets ZERO blame from me.

What really gets me is Jr. getting all whiney about his tire being on the line. That is NOT a new rule, it's been in effect for years. The official was pointing at it, but his crew went to work anyway.

You know the rules before hand (most of the time). Don't get all pissy/whiney when you break them (even slightly) and they penalize you. Be a man, accept that you did something wrong and let's move on.

I hate NASCAR, for only one reason, its not a competitive sport, there are so many restrictions that it turns it into a boring sport. I think it would be better if guys could do what ever they wanted to their cars (safety cages are a must along with all the belts for crash and roll-over protection) bigger motors, better rear ends and everything else. imagine if football players could only weigh a certain amount and only be so strong. that would be stupid... as far as the accident is concerned, rubbing is racing. they are fighting to win, i always thought the last 15 laps of a race are the funnest to watch because in those last laps, drivers grow balls and use them to pass or make a move to win.....
