Every now and then we need a kick in the rear to remind us how fragile life is and how cautious we need to be out on the road...I got my kick today.
A sedan carrying 5 people ran into the back of a bus while dropping off the neighbor girl....I'm not talking about about a little fender bender, this car was doing, my guess, 60-70 mph and ran into the back of the bus, WITHOUT ever stepping on the brake. The rear bumper of the bus was were the rear window of the sedan normally is. With 5 people inside. There were three people on the bus, one was later taken to the hospital as a precaution, she was knocked down while trying to exit the bus, she appeared OK, but you never know.
All 5 occupants in the car were seriously hurt, in shock, severe lacerations, broken bones, etc., one looked to be a child no more then 10-12. TWO helicopters landed in my neighbors yard and lifted the two most serious victims off. A wrecker had to literally lift the bus off the car so resuce workers could pull three people from the car. Luckily, all appeared to be alive when they left the scene, but how many are alive right now (this happened at about 5 EST) is anyone's guess.
My neighbor has pics of the accident scene, but due to the helicopters landing right beside my house, I wasn't able to shoot across the yard and grab mine, so all I've got are a few after pics:

In case you are wondering, that's exactly how the car was removed from under the bus....the hood and roof were peeled off like a tin can. The car hit so hard that it broke and shifted the rear suspension and axle of the bus. This was a very, very serious accident. Be careful out there guys....and gals.
