I went in for an alignment Friday and, as I was already aware, was told that I needed both lower ball joints replaced and left tie rod end. They didn't have all the parts and nobody in town had them. Got an appointment for Wednesday and a quote of $335 including alignment.

Normally, I would do this myself, but I have more money than time right now. I got so much landscaping and yard work to do before the wedding in June plus work and grad school. I think this will be the first time I let a shop do something I would usually do myself. Feels strange.

Yup, that's why I'm willing to let them do it. It was actually $420 but I have a 20% off coupon.

Doubt that price quote is from a Ford dealer service department.

A good thing since aftermarket suspension parts are preferred anyway. (Moog, etc.)

If they allow, you may save a few more dollars supplying your own parts.

I attempted lower ball joints last week, could not get them out of the knuckle.

Tried a pickle fork, press, heat, floor jack, larger sledge, etc. Two hours, no go.

Lowest price was $325 labor only, using my own parts. With 15% off coupon $276.

Sounds like a very good deal for you. GL

About 8 months before my dad passed. He had the ford dealer replace the left upper control arm and ball joint and the idler arm. On his '01 grand marquis.

I was checking things out for mom recently. The ford dealer used Moog parts. Odd..but good...

Correct, not a dealership. And they are using Moog parts. In the shop now. Enjoying driving the Tahoe around. I miss 8 cylinders.

I'll be replacing my uppers and lowers just because they have 100K on them, the truck is lifted and I plan on getting an alighnment before I buy my new 15x8 (4"b.s.) Soft 8's and 33x12.50x15 either Goodyear DuraTracs or General Grabber AT2's here in the next couple weeks.

They didn't get it done today because it was still pulling right after an alignment. They will be doing a caster camber kit tomorrow morning.
