LSD in front?

Limited Slip Differential or as Ford calls it Traction Lock. I know that at one time the Grand cherochee used a LSD in both Front and Rear and a differential type transfer case.

The first thing that comes to mind is Limited Slip Differential. :D Never heard of one in front but then I have never had, nor needed a 4x4.

A limited-slip up front can help off-roading. The suspension travel in the IFS is limited compared to a solid-axle setup, often resulting in one wheel off the ground. The lowrider '64 Impalas aren't the only ones three-wheelin'. The only limited-slip front diff available for late-model Rangers/Explorers/Tracs is the Powertrax No-Slip, which is more of a soft locker and not a limited-slip. Only downside is that a front L/S or locker can be tricky to drive on snow. With an open front diff one wheel gets most of the power (just like an open rear) and the other wheel will help to track the vehicle. With both wheels on snow, both will want to break traction and be hard to steer because it will want to go straight (understeer) worse than it already does. ("Zippy, gimme a round of wedge and a half-pound in the right front." )

I've heard, but can't confirm, that Reider Racing can modify a Detroit TrueTrac to fit for a small fee.

That is essentially the same diff as the Torsen that comes in the rear of FX4 Level II Rangers and is probably better suited to on-road snow driving than the Powertrax. The Powertrax would be fine on snow as long as you have good tires and drive it right. Off-road it can't be beat.

The way the transfer case doesn't allow slip now , and the way the truck turns in 4wd... I would say Do not do it!!!
