Meat Glue?

Wow, that's pretty nasty. That also helps me explain why the hamburger I had last week at Wendy's was extremely low-grade. Normally I go for the chicken, so I switched it up, and I won't be making that mistake again.

"Despite some misgivings, school lunch officials say they use Beef Products because its price is substantially lower than ordinary meat trimmings, saving about $1 million a year."

Yes, because 1 million dollars across the whole nation's school system costs actually means something. That's like saving a few bucks a year to an average American.

Parts are parts. Sure, the glue itself might be questionable from a healthy standpoint, but it seems the bigger issue here is that previously externally facing parts end up in the middle of cuts of meat where they might not get cooked as at high a temperature as the external areas od the composite cut. The report says that is an e-coli risk.

Of course, if we could just keep the fecal matter out of the meat processing, that would probably help things. Lol

Most all of my red meat consumption comes from my chest freezer stocked full of venison! The health benefits and cost are just too much to pass up. Plus, I've got a large supply and I've recently noticed a new batch of little ones all over the property.

Occasionally, I buy a bacon wrapped beef filet from our local butcher. I know it's only the most choice cuts and I am willing to pay a premium for that. The beef is local and butchered that day and I always grill it the same day.

I buy only unprocessed chicken for my white meat and get lots of fresh fish (as fresh as it gets here anyway). It's also turkey season right now and I plan to add 2 or 3 to the deep freezer in the next couple weeks.

When I MUST eat fast food, I almost always get chicken. There are some instances every couple of months where nothing but the nastiness of Taco Bell beef from a tube will satisfy, though, lol.

Nice. Too bad it's not possible for me :(

This reminds me of that "Country folk can survive" song.

My life in a song right there. When you don't HAVE to rely on other people for everything, you really can remove a lot of the stress in you life.
