Yesterday I bought and installed new carbon pads and some rotors on the front. Put it all back together and I had pedal vibration (almost like the antilock was kicking in) so I pull the rears apart and had the drums turned. (pads still in good shape)

I double checked the torque on the bearings and that is fine (on the front)

My first plan when I head out this morning is to apply the parking brake to figure out if the issue is front or back.

I don't think I hit any of the abs stuff when I was working but also plan to check that..

any other thoughts? Garage on base opens in 1 hr

Since your 2wd, I almost bet the abs ring on the rotor is the wrong one....

IF the pedal pumps, it could be the rear drums...

YOU also can take out the ABS fuse and try that test...

OEM replacement rotors from the parts store on base, not sure what brand $50ish a peice.

I did clean the abs sensor.

Possibly cause by the tone rin, as Todd Z said, on the rotor. Common problem on cheap rotors.

You could pull one rotor and look at the ring. Make sure it looks like it is even all the way around.

Check the new rotors for true. I had to take some back recently because they were not straight. The replacements seem to work fine, though.

Problem goes away with the ABS fuse removed.

Replaced one of the ABS sensors (pass front) drove around with a scanner hooked up and all the sensors are getting a reading now.

So that rules out warped rotors at least, and I'm pretty sure it rules out the tone ring right?

Well, it should. But I'm assuming that even with the new sensor, the problem is still there, right?

Well, the tone ring could be the culpret. Put your old rotor back on and see if it still does it.

I'm having a similar problem as JD

New rotors and brakes up front and when i hit the brakes at a certain point i get a bad rubbing and even lose brake pressure

Where is the ABS sensor located at?

I bleed the brakes too.

The ABS sensor is the little metal circle behind the rotor. It has an 8mm bolt holding it in from the backside and about 4 foot of wiring connected to it.

I have seen many here have that issue and it almost always come back to being the wrong rotors due to the ABS tone ring being wrong.

I compared my old rotors to the new ones and it seems to be the same.. is there something that wouldn't be obvious?

JD it is not the rotor itself, IT is the reluctor ring on the BACK of the rotor. The new one could be smaller, larger, different spacing on the teeth, IT could be a bunch of things throwing it off..

JD, sounds like you and I are having the exact same issue.

What fuse is taken out and where? inside the truck or under the hood? I lost the diagram for what fuse is what.

The fuse is under the hood.. On the first row there are 3 50 amp fuses, it's the middle one. with it removed the abs light is on (obviously since the abs isn't working)
