The Nation of Islam in Los Angeles is calling on the Crips and Bloods street gangs to stop fighting each other – and to unite in a jihad against the LAPD.



That's the essence of a flyer obtained by KFI News and circulated in South Los Angeles, calling on members of two violent street gangs to start a "holy war" against the police department.



The telephone number listed (323) 971-2410, for the Nation of Islam's Los Angeles mosque near 87th and Vermont has been disconnected, but a check of a reverse directory reveals the phone number on the flyer is connected to the mosque at the same address, according to KFI.



The Nation of Islam's L.A. leader, Minister Tony Muhammad, has claimed he was the victim of an unprovoked attack by LAPD officers at the scene of a vigil for a murdered gang member.



The LAPD last week released an audio tape of some garbled radio transmissions in which they say Muhammad can be heard challenging officers.



The photograph on the flyer appears to have been taken at a news conference held just after Muhammad was released from jail. Muhammad and the Nation of Islam have not returned calls for comment.



It's unclear who created the flyer so the LAPD has declined to comment, other than saying officers have been aware of them for several days.



"This is deeply disturbing," Los Angeles Police Protective League President Bob Baker told KFI. "Quite frankly, this is a case in which I hope our mayor, our police commission and our community leaders can step in to remind everyone of our shared priorities."

Maybe we should deploy some Marines there as well and declare martial law, if they to be domestic terrorists and want a war, we'll give them a war. Granted, the LAPD haven't been the most stellar example of how to conduct a law enforcement community at times, but I would bet the gangs in that area have done more harm then good, and the LAPD has done more good then harm.

I wouldn't worry a lot about it. I don't think the street gangs are a particularly idealistic bunch, they're more the "What's in it for me?" types, and if it doesn't involve drugs or money they're not going to do much, especially for somebody else.

I see this as a ploy to get forces out of Iraq so that the insurgents will win; NOT. Also, they have seen how unprepared we were in the aftermath of Katrina, along with the lack of response. Looks like they are attempting to blind side us. This is not good, especially if they call for this type of offensive across the U.S. I knew when they first started the base closures that it was not a good idea. What you must remember is the media said "That's the essence of a flyer". Basically they are summing up what they think is being said. I go to L.A. all the time and personally know people who would be "involved" in this and they haven't heard anything solid as to say unite against cops. The Nation of Islam and all of it's fanatical psychophant followers can suck a greasy fart out of my @$$. I spent a year in Iraq and 6 months in Afghanistan trying to help muslims and have decided, based on what I've seen in those countries (as well as in Kosovo and Bosnia in '99) that these people are the most backwards, violent, and confused group of people on the face of the earth. Everywhere you turn in the world these days, there are little groups of "home-grown" Islamic terrorists popping up, plotting their mischief, and sewing the seeds of social unrest. If these clowns hate America so bad and we have oppressed them so much, then why don't the move back to their $#!t-hole "homelands" and live there? Maybe then they can see some REAL oppression and violence and develope a better appreciation for the privelges and opportunities we have provided them in the USA.



It just bothers me that our society, law, and politicians allow this growing threat to our safety and way of life to continue to spread and fester.



Oh yeah, and while I'm venting, I'd like to address something I heard on Armed Forced Radio Network last week that made me so angry I had to pull off the road to cool off. The blatantly racist and ridiculous remark some wacko NAACP representative made about how the slow response to hurricane Katrina in New Orleans was/is directly related to the fact that most of the refugees were black or of other minorities is GD ridiculous. Where does the NAACP find these people? Do they attend some sort of class on how to be overtly offensive to white people? I guess this guy missed all of the news footage which showed platoons of armed looters (who incidentally were 99% minorities) raiding peoples homes, stores, and hospitals. I don't consider myself to be a racist or hate-monger and, in fact, work with blacksand have black friends who I consider to be great Americans and better people than a lot of white folks I know. However, I feel the NAACP is an extremist organization and has done nothing but exacerbate and widen the divide between blacks and whites in the US. They leap at every opportunity to throw a racist spin on almost every single major head-line in the news.



By the way...the media is also full of $#!t. Anyone who believes everything that they read, see, or hear in the media anymore is a fool. The media is the number one reason why the insurgency in Iraq is the monster that it is today. If they would stop catering to Al-Zarqawi and his goons, the war in Iraq would be over much sooner.



Anyways, I wish everyone would stop trying to blame everyone else for whatever discrepencies there were/are with the response to Katrina and focus on the real problem: getting New Orleans back in order, people back in their homes, and the oil flowing again. It would also be nice if the media would start giving a little more attention to the war in Afghanistan, where my unit is currently safe-guarding the national elections and killing more Al-Qaeda loosers than cancer. Osama is hiding in Pakistan, but all CNN, FOX, and MSNBC ever report is US deaths and body-counts from Iraq.

The bottom-line I was trying to make is that, we allow these violent and fanatical people to live in our country and yet all they do is plot to disrupt our lives. I think they should be deported or held accountable for their actions.



I won't apologize for my beliefs, because they are founded in experience and common sense. Perhaps I should have used less "inflammitory" wording, but I get so ramped-up when I hear about people openly proclaiming violence against our law-enforcement agencies and government......I've spent a lot of time away from my home and family helping make the US a safer place and have seen a lot of good kids get killed or maimed. I'll be damned if I'll sit by idly and let these fools disgrace and threaten the nation I love.



I stil hate the media and will never trust the NAACP. I'll try to find a good political forum next time. I think we should all refrain from posting political messages on this site (myself included).

To come to DeadlyDavy's defense, I saw nothing remotely wrong with his personal observations about the experiences he has had in Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia.



I too believe that the NAACP has gone far astray from its original mission to promote civil rights back in the 60's. They have turned into a political organization.



As for Katrina, the mayor of NO and governor of LA should be the ones on the hot seat for their total lack of preparation and for failing to even follow their own contingency plans.



Stop being so PC all the time. We dance around these issues like there is some God given right to not be offended by anyone anymore.

If you think about what Davey wrote...I mean actually think...you'll realize that there is no contradiction.



When viewing/reading media coverage, you must ask about the pieces that are obviously missing from the story. Try to determine the angle that is built into the story. You can see bias in most stories. I rant.
