Oh Sh!t handles

Hey I noticed that a number of STs have the handles on the pillars next to the windshield. Mine does not ('02). Is this something they added to newer models? Anyone put these on an '02? I'd like to put them on but I don't know if the mounting holes would exist.

They are on 03 and up. I don't think you can put them on. This has been discussed before here, I think something to do with the A pilliar being a little different. Try a search, I think it was discussed a year or so ago.

They were moved to the A pillar when side curtain airbags became an option.

The pillar and inside plastic are completely different...

I took my 03 apart and looked at an 02, there was no easy way to add them on...

I took pics of it, But don't have them in my library right now...

As mentioned, no easy way to add them. The pillars have welded nuts to accept the bolts that hold the handles. In the welded area the metal is over-all stronger too.

I have an 04 and the handles on the A-pillars are at the perfect spot for ingress and egress. Unfortunately there are no grab handles whatsoever in the rear. As grumpy mentioned, apparently they were relocated to accomodate the side-curtain airbags. I wish they had at least moved the rear handles to the B-pillar instead of deleting them altogether.
