I stopped by my local Ford dealer and learned that their sales manager had already ordered his Adrenalin. Makes me think they may sell quickly. It's time to upgrade from my 2001 and, like a number of old-timers on this site, have been patiently waiting ever since the 2005 Adrenalin concept. I'm planning to order a silver V8 AWD!

I'm going through the Costco buyers program (you can option the Trac with the Adrenalin package on their site) and have the following questions re: options:

1) Is the Audiophile system worth ordering? I put an aftermarket unit w/Polk DX-7s in my 2001 and never looked back on the stock unit. Does Sync require the factory system?

2) Is the Electronics Package worth ordering? We have dual-zone automatic climate control on our 2005 Odyssey and its nice, but nothing special. What does the 4-line message center really tell you?

3) Have a factory tonneau on my 2001 and am well-versed on how big a pain it is to remove when needed to haul large items. I'm thinking of either the LazerLite Tonneau (http://www.sporttractonneaus.com/index.html) or the K-Covers Tonneau (http://www.kcovers.com/drill-less-sporttrac.html). Anyone have these on their current Tracs?

Thansk for any input/advice.

1) Don't pay the extra $ for the stock Audiophile if you have any inkling whatsoever that you may go with an aftermarket later. Even though it will be a slight improvement over stock, it will still pale in comparison to an aftermarket.

2) Don't know what's included in the package but I think you answered your own question.

3) The OEM cover is a high $ item. If you have any qualms about it, forego the cover and go aftermarket. Again, I think you answered your own question.

One more thing though...I am now jealous!!!

Good luck and enjoy your new ST.

I think I've had the cover on-and-off more often over the years then the number of times some of the site's newbies have logged in to post messages! LOL

It's heavy and a pain to remove. I also want a more low-profile look with the tonneau.

Thanks for the input.

The tonneau is pretty strong though--it holds over 600 lbs on top of itself :) With the tie-downs, the covertop is functional as storage space, giving you a trunk and a bed at the same time. Genius.

I remember trying out the feature-less 03 that we bought for a day at Dulles CarMax...I expected the cover to be hard (it was vinyl), and about ripped it when I learned the hard way that it wasn't. I'm surprised that someone would go without the cover...I'm coming to terms with that, as I find myself as a function-over-form guy. Is the 07 that different that a soft cover would look good, because the soft cover Gen 1 tracs that I've seen in person look pretty gay.

Heavy? It's only 70 pounds man! You can lie on something in the bed, stretch out, and bench it for a free workout (and the bedsides act as an integrated spotter). The best part is that you can actually take it off and stash it in the bed....afaik, you cannot remove a softy with ease.

!.) As Dave suggested, don't go with the upgraded Audiophile if there is a chance of doing an after market radio. I got the upgraded system only for the factory sub/amp and I wish I had saved that money. I installed a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 in-dash navigation system as soon as I got my 07 so the upgrade was a waste.

2.) In my opinion the Electronic Package IS worth ordering. In my opinion the best feature in that package is the electronic keypad on the door. If you ever happen to lock your keys in your truck you will wish you had it. The other features are "nice to haves" but not an essential features, but again I would get it.

3.) I like my factory tonneau cover. I agree that it's a bit heavy and bulky to remove, but it's very strong and durable so it's been a plus for me. The after market covers are nice so definitely a good alternative.

Thanks Lil Red. And Kevin, the aftermarket tonneaus I'm looking at are hard top tonneaus that use high-strength aluminum and stainless steel hardware. Better in every way then the OEM and can support 1500 lbs on top.
