painting cladding

ok i have cleaned everything and know am ready to paint and bought the supplies i bough the adhesion prmoter and bumper coating, you are suppose to put the adhesion prmoter down first right or thats what i thought, but some guy at o reily auto parts told me to put down the bumper coating first then the adhesion promoter, that doesnt sound right. Also is the bumper coating the sem gloss black or do i need to guy buy a semi gloss black to go over it, and if so what kind. Sorry about the trouble people are just confusing me haha?
