Has nothing to do with being a Chevy. A mis-treated vehicle by any manufacturer will be crap, if treated like crap.

How do you screw up a muffler? Where did the master cylinder fluid go to? These are things that should last more then 50k no matter how little maintenance you do.

The Camaro sits low to he ground......

Slam the muffler on a curb, or driveway apron.....

PARK the car on GRASS !! the worst thing you can do...

brakes, Wear them down till the wheel cylinder or caliper is dragging the rotor and never add fluid...

try your own brake job and pinch the caliper dust boot and damage the seal...

MANY things you can do to a car and Not even know your damaging it..

Faded paint and peeling clear coat does not sound like a car that was "Garaged most of it's life".

Original owner and kept it in the garage from 1994 to 2007 when he got a BMW Z3 and put it in the garage then. The Z28 sat in the driveway from that point on.

I re-read my post. I meant to say the car was sitting since 2007 and NOT 1997. It was a mistake on my end.

The max I would be willing to give for it is 2K since the interior is in really good shape and does not look like it was beat on. The car isn't that bad, but it is a Chevy and I just am not very familular with them.

When was the last time the car was started and driven? Sitting outside for 3 years without driving can really destroy a car. Even though the interior looks OK, the threads holding the seat covers together will start to rot and fall apart after a few years of sitting.

That happened to my 1972 Monte Carlo. Interior was over 20 years old and nearly flawless until I parked it for 4 years and the interior started to fall apart at the seams...even the headliner started to fall down just sitting there. Of course the Texas sun down here is pretty bad on anything that sits in direct sunlight for very long.

It might be worth $2000-$2500 if it will start and run down the road halfway decent. I would just put some lipstick on it and get rid of it fast.

Way back in 1982 while I was stationed in Germany, bought a 1977 Chevy Caprice Classic station wagon that had a blown 350 engine for $500. Book value was $3200 if the engine was running. I swapped the engine with a used 307 Chevy from a 1975 Monte Carlo that was guaranteed to run and it had 20 HP more than the 350 did. I sold the car for $2800 within 30 days of completing the swap. I told the buyer that I had replaced the engine, but it was a complete bolt in and looked like it originally came from the factory that way. He took it to a mechanic who said everything looked and ran fine and he would not even know the difference between the 350 and the 307.

He claims it was driven down the road a year ago. I think there is a brake line, or more, rusted through so taking it on a test drive is not possible, it did start up and idle fine and did not sound like it was missing or anything.

I figure, at a minimum, brakes all around, brake lines, exhaust, plugs, wires, coolant system flush, thermostat, belts, hoses, and some other minor stuff and it should be OK to go. Without being able to drive it, I don't know if the ball joints are bad or if the shocks are trashed. These are all things that "could" be bad, but without driving it, it is a coin toss. If it were an Explorer, that would be a

I would only be willing to go as high a 2 grand, and not a penny more. If he says no, I walk away. No loss to me.
