About 600 miles ago I started to notice a very harsh vibration in my ST whie driving high speeds, mainly 65 mph. I was concerned because I recently ran out of warranty. However, I think my luck has changed and I may have found the culprit.

I'll fess up first. I committed the sin of all service sins, I had my tires rotated and balanced at the worst place in Olrando....Walmart. It was quick and easy and I guess I get what I pay for literally....but i noticed today that my front wheels threw ALL of the weights they put on. I'm really hoping this would cause that "wobble" I've had. Otherwise, I'm "up the creek without a paddle". I cannot afford any major fixes right now because I just bought a house and have a few new medical situations to pay for. Fingers crossed, but I hope this is it......

I'm going to take it tomorrow to a more reputable place to have the work done and I might have them do an allignment too while they are at it. Wish me luck!

It may help, But the design of the St seems to bring the highspeed vibration...

I have noticed while riding behind other st's the fiberglass bed seems to shake, Wounder if the wind is causing the bed to "sing" and cause the vibration???

Well, I'll be the first to say that my ST is not the most well put together machine I've owned. When go over bumps I can hear either the back window or bed-to-body connection creak. It's slightly annoying. I'm pretty sure the vibration I get is coming from the front. I feel like I'm going to wobble off the road sometimes and it feels like I'm sitting in a massaging seat. Sometimes it vibrates so violently that my rear view mirrors look blurry since it's vibrating too. We'll see what happens with the work I get done tomorrow. Hopefully all will be resolved.

I hope all it is is tire balancing, IT sounds a lot worse...

I am going through the same thing on an 05. It has 3,000 miles and has two different type of vibrations. One is the tires I think and the other is driveline.

Dave, if it's under warranty take it in. I wish I had that luxury, but sadly this didn't start happening to my '03 until AFTER my warranty is up. Hopefully it's not too bad, but I'll update this post after I get the work I had planned done (tomorrow if time permits). Not to mention....I REALLY hope it's a cheap fix, because on top of everything else, we discovered we have a water leak SOMEWHERE in the house (yes, the house we JUST BOUGHT). We discovered it after receiving our first water bill. Needless to say I'm pissed. And it's a very small leak....only losing about .4 Gallons an hour...but enough to double our water bill and my headaches...

I keep waiting for it all to end. Normally, I'd go clear my head by driving around in my ST, but that makes me madder feeling the shimmy. So, instead, Scott and I are loading up and going on an all night fishing trip. Sometimes you just gotta get away. Hey Josh ....it's not too late!!! You can come with if you get here in about 30 mins!! Or you can just come along next time after you get moved in here.

Later!

The loss of weights can cause your vehicle to not only vibrate, but also wander.

My 03 ST has 26,000 miles on it and has always run very smoothly. I have, however, always had the balancing done at the dealerhship which has only been done once.

I had it balanced during the first 12,000 miles so I could get it under the balancing warranty. Actually, it didn't really need it at that time either.

Go get yours redone at a reputable facility and cut your loss.

Jenn,

I think it's very possible you can fix your problem with a proper wheel balance. A couple of years ago, I was convinced I had the driveshaft problem others have talked about. I had the exact same symptoms everyone was describing. I didn't think it was a wheel balancing issue because they had been balanced recently. But, I had them re-balanced by a different shop, and the vibration disappeared.

Good luck.
