Ok, so this might be a stupid question. However, I recently found out that through my company I can get the X-plan. My questions is - If I use the X-plan, can I still take advantage of incentives such as $2000 cash back, etc.? Or, does the X-plan nulify all additional deals since ultimately the dealer would lose money due to the x-plan pricing?

Sorry again for the dummy question. I know what I want to hear for an answer, but for some reason I doubt I'll hear what I want. I am sure someone can answer this quickly.

Thanks,

Jenn

I do believe the X-Plan is on top of any offered incentives. Meaning the answer IS what you want to hear. X-Plan + Cash Back = Better Deal!!!

I was just looking on the x-plan PIN generating website and saw that I can get a Range Rover for only $70K!!! HAHAHAHA I wonder if the dealer incentives offer $40K cashback?!?!?!

Yep Jenn, did you see the price of the Jags? ha ha ha

You can take advantage of the additional savings with Xplan.

I think this time of year you may get a better deal by negotiating, and getting the incentives. Many dealers will sell at a loss just to get rid of last year's cars to free up space for the more profitable new models.

I bought my 2003 Sport Trac with the X-plan plus I got and additional discount of $2750 in various rebates plus the dealer waived the standard $250 turn-in fee on the leased 2001 Sport Trac that I turned back in. Then the dealer located financing at only 4.79%, while I already had a check in hand for a 5.9% and Ford Credit would not go lower than about 6.9%

How do you get such great deals?

In NYC you walk in and try to negotiate and they are like, nope, acnt do that. sorry.

JohnnyB,

With the X-Plan, there is no negotiating reqired. The X-Plan price is fixed by Ford and the dealer is not allowed to negotiate a different price. You must tell the dealer that you plan on using the X-Plan before any price negotiations begin and the dealer must show you and print out a copy of the vehicle specs with the X-Plan price clearly displayed.

When I worked at a local Ford dealer, the salemen would get a flat $75 commission for the sale of any X-Plan vehicle and the dealership got about $275-$300 per vehicle instead of the 3% holdback.

Remember, many dealers will tell you they can beat X-Plan prices, however they rarely do, and if you accept their offer, you won't see the X-Plan price, and you cannot change your mind by rejecting the dealers price and then try to get the X-Plan price. When you agree to negotiate the price, you lose your X-Plan option, at least at that dealership.

Jenn;

X-plan is a great way to go. It's 4% over dealers **real** cost (not the one they show to customers). The total price you pay works out to be within a few bucks of what Edmunds lists as invoice. Then *on top of that* are any cash backs or rebates or any of that stuff. It's a good deal, IMHO.

X-plan was a big factor in the acquisition of my Trac. At the time I also got $1000 cash back plus 0% APR. Best part was the quick and painless transaction at the dealership (I was driving my Trac home in no time).

Anyone can become eligible for X-Plan pricing by joining the Experimental Aviation Association. It's only $40/year, the only caviat is that you have to be a member for one year before you can use the X-plan.
