I hope you purchased an extended warranty coverage on the acer laptop. While normally I dont go for the extra coverage, it would be a good choice.



The reports I am getting from the 700+ student laptops on campus. The ones that are having system/component failures the majority are acer brand laptops.

I recommend AVG to my clients.



I used the AOL McAfee version for a quite a few years, but AOL got too invasive and McAfee used a lot of resources.



Frequently, when troubleshooting a PC, even new PCs, Norton/Symantec's security suite is installed. It causes so many problems, my first recommendation to people experiencing PC performance and reliability problems is to get rid of it. Once a flagship product, the quality control and performance is now quite bad. If it's on a new PC out of the box, I uninstall it.

Norton Ghost if you want to create an image of your drive(s). Not sure if that's the type of backup you were askin' about.
