No special tools, socket (can't remember which size) and something to scrape the old rtv seal off.



Then you need fluid and friction modifier (if limited slip) and new RTV.
 
There is no drain plug on the Gen 1....... so you either have to pump out the old fluid or remove the back cover to do it the right complete way.....



I also hate using rtv for the gasket and bought a lube locker 8.8 gasket...... that may be just me....



also if doing on your back, sometimes its a pain to get the fluid in from the bottles and a nice bottle pump is recomended.... also if you jack up the truck and its not level you may over or under fill the rear....



but a 3/8 ratchet and what ever socket the back bolts, gasket scraper and some cleaner is all the tools you really need...
