As I start to think about xmas gifts I thought about giving my gf an remote starter for her Ford Focus. I have a Viper remote starter on my 02 Trailblazer that was already on it when I purchased it. I looked up the price of a viper and it was over 200 bucks! Just wondered what a good brand is for something like that, and how much would be a good dollar amount to spend on one. I love mine because I can start it from inside houses without going to a window or anything. I want hers to be able to go through a window at her work since she closes a lot, and will be faced with the cold weather and the cold car. Her car is only about 200-300 feet away from that window. Thanks for your help...

I've always had real good luck with the BULLDOG brand. I've put 5 or 6 of them in on various vehicles and never had a problem. You can get wire harness tees for them, also, so you're not splicing into everyting under the dash. A 'good enough' one will cost $70-90, which usually has door and trunk lock/unlock buttons. AUTOCOMMAND makes remote starters also, but they're not as user friendly. I've done a couple of those, and they can be a pain. Hope this helps!
